The Eastern Province Election Assembly was held in Mokama May 6-9 with Sister Marie Tobin, MMS serving as facilitator. The ritual of washing feet as a sign of service exemplified the assembly theme “To Lead is to Serve,” in an especially prayerful way.

The Central Leadership Team was present for the Assembly and addressed the gathering concerning the various aspects of the election and the two-province government structure. Comments and feelings around the aspect of internationality, the feasibility of the new structure to bind us together as one across the globe has now become a reality.

The spirit of God was indeed present during the three days of prayer, fasting and discernment. With honesty and freedom of sharing, the  nominees for leadership positions shared their giftedness and complementing gifts (from the other nominees). After a round of table conversations the new leaders of the Eastern Province were all elected on the first ballot.
