Yesterday events were held throughout Arizona, USA to educate parents about the state-sponsored health insurance program for children. In the town of Kingman, volunteers from the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul handed out information and helped with forms. Read the article.

I applaud the efforts to educate parents about state-sponsored health insurance programs for children. Lamentably, however, SCHIP programs face funding shortfalls in a number of states and efforts to expand SCHIP funding have failed. Despite the existence of programs like Arizona’s KidsCare, the number of uninsured children in this country continues to rise.
